NPP at The Boeing Classic

NPP at The Boeing Classic

The Boeing Classic proudly stands as one of the premier golf events in the Pacific Northwest. It’s held yearly at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge. The breathtaking views of the Snoqualmie Valley serve as a backdrop for world-class golf and a week full of events that provide the perfect chance to mingle with friends, clients and business leaders.

The Boeing Classic is not only a major PGA event, but it’s also an annual philanthropic opportunity for Virginia Mason Health System programs and services. The Boeing Classic has raised more than $6 million for Virginia Mason and other local charities since its inception.

“The Boeing Classic is a world-class event that supports some very important community causes,” said Kamran Jafri, NPP Chief Operating Officer/CIO. “NPP is proud to be a sponsor, and we as a company look forward to the Boeing Classic every year. We bring together teams of employees, members and partners to support the week’s events. This includes playing in the charity scramble, manning hospitality tents on the course and much more.”

The Seahawks Rumble at the Ridge, which is part of the week-long events for The Boeing Classic, kicks off the event. Amateur golfers get to take to the green for a unique opportunity – the chance to play, not only at a beautiful pro course, but also to play alongside some of the sports industry’s heavy-hitters.

The 2019 Rumble takes place on Monday, August 19 and NPP puts forth six teams for the event. The teams are made up of amateur golfers who are associated with NPP. Each team is joined by a sports celebrity, which may include local sports journalists, current and past professional athletes as well as industry insiders.

“There is nothing more terrifying than watching a former All-Pro athlete like Lawyer Milloy or Jason Terry rip one off the tee and then having to tee one up yourself,” joked Jafri. “The celebrities and athletes who participate are extremely friendly and approachable, and they’re all great with the kids hunting for autographs around the course.”

The Korean Air Pro-Am follows Rumble at the Ridge on Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22. The Boeing Classic then begins on Friday, August 23 and wraps up on Sunday, August 25. NPP will host a hospitality tent at the tournament near the 18th hole.

The best part is that The Boeing Classic benefits Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) along with two other non-profits – The First Tee Seattle and A Better Seattle (founded by Seattle Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll).

BRI works to predict, prevent, reverse and cure immune system diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, lupus, Crohn’s disease, allergies and asthma. Because diseases of the immune system are connected, so is BRI’s approach to researching them. BRI believes that a breakthrough in one of these diseases can lead to progress against them all. Proceeds from purchases made through NPP benefit BRI.

The Boeing Classic is just one more way for NPP to support ground-breaking medical research. We are proud to participate this annual event, which allows world-class golf to benefit a world-class institution.
