Summer reigns at NPP

Summer reigns at NPP

By Cotton Mayer

Have you been living your best summer? If not, you better ramp it up soon. It won’t be long before the days are short and we all hunker down for winter (okay, maybe not Florida and Southern Cali, but most of us will hunker down for cold weather soon).

NPP is located in Seattle, WA, so we prep for months of gray skies and rain. Contrary to popular belief though, Seattle is not the rainiest U.S. city. According to a 2018 TripSavvy.com article, Seattle doesn’t even rank in the top 15 Wettest Places in the USA. New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Atlanta and Houston all get more inches per year than Seattle.

If you measure by the number of rainy days in a year, Seattle is closer to the top, edged only by several cities in the Great Lakes region and our neighboring northwest city of Portland. The TripSavvy article also shows that the highest totals of yearly precipitation are clearly in the Pacific Northwest. I mean, we do have the only legitimate rainforest in the contiguous United States. But that’s way out on the Olympic Peninsula (home of Forks, Washington and Twilight vampires), not in Seattle.

NPP has always been a proud resident of the Pacific Northwest, ever since we started helping businesses save money in 2001. We are owned by non-profit hospitals in the region and a substantial portion of our proceeds help support medical research at Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) in Seattle. BRI works to predict, prevent, reverse and cure immune system diseases such as multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, allergies and asthma.

That’s why our motto is “Save money. Save lives.” Companies across the nation join NPP for free to gain access to discounts on products and services they use. They can also feel good about their purchases. In nearly 20 years, NPP has contributed more than $130 million to support organizations dedicated to medical research and care. No one can rain on that parade.

NPP continually works toward a brighter future despite the gray northwest weather. We are inspired by the efforts of BRI and other medical organizations. BRI believes that diseases of the immune system are connected and a breakthrough involving one can lead to progress against them all. BRI works with researchers and other institutions worldwide, connecting laboratory research to clinical interventions and translating discoveries to real-life application.

Joining NPP and supporting BRI is easy… and it’s free! That’s why we have more than 300,000 members coast to coast. We secure top discounts from a portfolio of great brands, including Verizon, Staples, Priceline, Sherwin-Williams and more. Brands are excited to give us their best deals because they want to be in front of our vast membership.

So, if you’re looking to boost your bottom line or just saving up for a rainy day, sign your business up to be an NPP member (or encourage your boss to). Save money and support lifesaving medical research.
